St. Agnes Academy 5th Grade Stars

From the classroom of Ms. Clark

WHOA! Amazing how fast this year is going!
I am very excited this is my fourth year here at SAA and third year as your fifth grade grammar, literature, and religion teacher.  I have a seven year old son, Jacob.  He is in the first grade at Saint Dominic School. I received both my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.  I later received my Master of Arts in Teaching from Christian Brothers University.  I am an alumna of St. Agnes Academy, class of 1993. I enjoy traveling with my family, spending time with friends, and reading.  As a parent I know that getting acquainted to both a new teacher and new grade can be difficult; therefore, I will explain briefly some of the procedures, guidelines, grading and conduct scales that will be used and followed this year in my class.
Academically your child is responsible for the following: completing daily and homework assignments, classroom participation, studying for tests and quizzes, maintaining her folders/notebook, completing any projects assigned, reading the novels assigned, reading books for book projects, and checking PowerSchool to review her grades.
Your child will have something to do every night.  She will develop the habit of studying nightly for tests and quizzes and working each day reviewing subject matter that we are studying.  For instance, she should study English and literature terms/definitions every night or read a library book.  Homework is to be completed at home as a review of what was taught that day or week.  Any projects or reports assigned, advanced notice and sufficient time will be given to complete each task.
I look forward to working with you and your daughter this year. If you have any questions and/or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at jclark@saa-sds.org.
